”Kari was an incredible support throughout my pregnancy and birth. She was kind, helpful, and truly respected my wishes every step of the way. Any time I had a question or concern, Kari was there with thoughtful answers and reassurance, always making me feel comfortable and confident. She held my hand—both literally and metaphorically—through the entire process, and her calm, encouraging presence helped ease any fears that came up. Her dedication, empathy, and expertise made a world of difference in my experience.
I can’t recommend her services enough to anyone looking for compassionate and knowledgeable care.”

“Where can I begin with Kari? She’s amazing from the start or prenatal care until I was cozy on my couch holding my healthy new baby. This was my third birth, the first two I had tried to go natural at the hospital and wasn’t able to advocate for myself the way I had wished. This time was completely different with the gentle love and care that Kari provided. I had an unexpectedly long labor and she was right there with her calming voice for every minute. When there were things I didn’t notice happening around me as I was in labor land, she advocated for me and made me feel so safe. I will never forget the moments leading up to pushing my miracle out with Kari’s hand in mine and her voice saying “it’s just your baby, you are doing great”. I would not have had this incredible experience if it weren’t for her! After the birth she was so close emotionally and spiritually as I processed the things that didn’t go to plan. It took months to process the trauma from my previous births, but I was able to healthily process with her right away and went straight into my newborn bubble with joy. I can’t recommend her enough!! I can’t have another baby with her!”

“Kari was everything that I had hoped for in having a postpartum doula - gracious, considerate, helpful, and very friendly. I am not one to ask for help, in fact I feel uncomfortable asking, and she made me feel completely at ease with anything and everything that I needed. Postpartum is such a raw and vulnerable time, I was so lucky to have found Kari to be in my corner for it. In fact, we still talk to this day and I continue to ask many questions in which she always has a very detailed, knowledgeable answer. I am so grateful to know Kari.”

“Kari was an absolute blessing throughout the birth of our first child. Her calming presence, knowledge, and unwavering support truly transformed our experience. One of the things we appreciated most was how strongly she advocates for informed consent. Kari made sure we understood all of our options at every step, empowering us to make decisions that felt right for us. Her dedication to ensuring we were heard made all the difference. Kari’s guidance before birth, during birth, and after birth was life-changing, and we couldn’t imagine going through this journey without her. If you’re looking for someone who will be by your side in every sense of the word, Kari is the doula you need.”

“Wow! I'm experiencing a lack of words for how impressive Kari has been throughout this whole process! Having Kari there for the birth is like the equivalent of seeing an expensive item at the store with the wrong price tag. It's literally a steal! She is worth every penny! She is very honest, kind, gentle, and reassuring. I plan to have her by my wife's side for the next 9 births that, Lord willing, we'll be able to have.”

“I want to start by stating that I cannot recommend Kari Beddow enough!!!!! She was so incredibly helpful and kind during my third pregnancy at the beginning of 2023. She was actually recommended to me when I made a post on Facebook asking about a good birth doula because I had not had one before and I did not know much about how to find one or what services they provided. I am so glad that multiple people recommended her because we connected right away and I knew I needed her for my final journey of pregnancy. Kari’s confidence in me and my abilities as a mother and as a woman truly inspired me to make the choice to do homebirth very late in my pregnancy. It was one of the best choices I ever made for myself and my family. I am truly grateful that I had such a beautiful birth experience and I definitely thank Kari for the role she played in making that happen. Just a beautiful hardworking soul who was patient and kind all the way through my pregnancy/birthing/postpartum experience. If you are looking for someone you can trust through your pregnancy and birth experience….Kari is truly wonderful and I highly recommend her!!!!”

“Kari was amazing to have as a doula and support throughout my pregnancy and journey into motherhood. She has a thoughtful practice that is grounded in her studies, research, and values, and provides thoughts and feedback from a holistic perspective. My labor story went differently than anticipated (who’s doesn’t?) and Kari was available via phone, text, and in person throughout the various and rapid changes. Additionally, Kari supported us in our fuzzy newborn stage and provided heaps of resources and referrals for the follow-up services we considered for mama and child. I highly recommend Kari and Grace Laced Birth Services!”

“Kari is amazing! My husband and I decided to do a homebirth with our first and she was just the support we both needed. It was like talking to an old friend the moment we met her. She has the sweetest and most caring soul out there and was with us through everything.. pregnancy, a long labor and postpartum. All of our questions were answered, no matter how many times we asked the same thing or how silly we felt to be asking. She helped me get through all the crazy emotions and thoughts I didn’t quite know how to handle, both preparing for baby and after he was here. When I saw her walk in the door during my labor I started to cry because at that moment I knew everything was going to be ok and I was able to take a deep breath and relax a bit. My husband and I are so blessed to have found her and cannot wait for the opportunity to work with her again!”

“My experience with Kari the doula was amazing. She was very informative in the beginning of our consultation before hiring her. And is there for you emotionally and physically all the way up till you give birth. She will help guide you in every way possible before and after you give birth whether that is stretching, vitamins, food recipes, book, videos, etc. I honestly don’t know how I would have been able to get through postpartum without a doula. She is so sweet during the visits and is honestly was like a mom to me. She is the one you need if you are considering a doula! You won’t be disappointed.”

“Kari is our guardian angel. My girlfriend Christen and I met Kari through our midwife whom she works with as her student-midwife. The juxtaposition between our midwife’s clinical background and Kari’s doula background was the perfect dynamic for us and naturally during the interviewing process, we were instantly drawn to Kari. Kari is a mother of 6, and when you meet her it becomes obvious why— she is warm, nurturing, and inviting, and her relationship to motherhood is beautiful. We became fast friends on day 1, and knew that she would be the perfect addition to our birthing team. We hired Kari and she was with us through every aspect of Christen’s pregnancy. From an emotional standpoint, Kari has so much experience both as a mother and a doula, her reassurance and guidance went a really long way for us— she knows every aspect of pregnancy/birth intimately and made us feel so comfortable in our own process so we were really able to enjoy it together. Any fleeting doubts or concerns were promptly washed away by Kari’s calm and comforting guidance. Though our pregnancy wasn’t complicated by any means, this was our first child and there were so many unknowns with what little experience we had together— Kari made us feel right at home and provided us with both the perfect amount of sympathy and education to make sure we felt both heard and prepared for anything. Come birthing time, all the preparation and guidance served us well. Christen had a very long labor lasting just under 40 hours, and there was Kari coaching her through every contraction as if she was holding the hand of a marathon runner to reach the finish line. Every aspect of our daughter’s birth was perfect, and we attribute so much of that to Kari’s dedication to us from the moment we decided to work together.
I’m going to add this in here because I think it’s important as to the relationship that we built with Kari over the months prior: I have a distinct memory during our labor of Kari sitting cross-legged on the floor of our room eating my mom’s homemade soup with 3 exhausted family members as if she was one of our own. We were all bare-foot, exhausted, and probably all needed a hot shower and even my poor laboring mama was able to smile and laugh while we all sat there in the throws of labor-land together. Kari was like an anchor for us in those times and kept us all grounded during some of those timestamps that could have felt demoralizing. While it may not sound like much, these moments have a special place in our hearts because it displayed her character to us and our entire family. Kari treated us like family in our own home and subsequently became apart of our family that night. I can’t even begin to describe how that made us feel. She is so special to us. Kari is an amazing, quality human being and I’m proud to say that she will be our doula and friend for life. If you’re looking for an addition to your birthing team, I highly recommend you interview her as I know she will blow you away exactly how she did us. Thanks again, Auntie Kari!! Max, Chrissy, and Charley ❤️”

“My husband and I can’t say enough good things about Kari and our birth experience. I truly believe Kari brought a sense of peace and calming that would not have been there otherwise. No one I know has ever hired a doula so I didn’t know if it would be something I wanted or needed. I was looking for better care than I receiving through the hospital and I wanted to try and go unmedicated but wasn’t 100% sure I could. I was declining a lot of common protocols for our hospital and my husband and I were prepared to advocate for ourselves. Now looking back during my first birth once we started declining certain protocols, we were met with a ton of push back from hospital staff and were being told things in a way to make them seem more serious than I believe was necessary. With our second birth we were declining even more common practices. My husband and I didn’t know how that was going to go but we’re confident in our research. Having Kari with us we felt like the staff treated us differently, for lack of better words with more respect. If concerns from hospital staff came up Kari would explain both sides calmly and with immense knowledge. We were able to make our decisions confidently and ulitmantly not waiver from our birth plan.
My reservations with hiring a doula were, would I feel comfortable with another person in the room? Would it take away from the bond I felt with my husband? Would I feel God so close like I did with my first if someone else was there? Is it worth the money or is it something I can achieve on my own? I think all those questions were valid. And I am happy to say my second birth was unmedicated like I wanted, and also I think the special moments with husband and God were 10x more special because my husband could just focus on me. There was a peace within the room having Kari there because she was on our team no matter what.
Kari was attentive and walked us through birth so gracefully. Having her just a phone call away during labor brought peace as I labored at home and as soon as I wanted her to come to my house she was on her way. When we got to the hospital I was 7.5-8 cm dilated. The hospital staff were moving fast and a little apprehensive because I was declining some protocols. Kari made sure I heard and understood what the nurses were rattling off as they came in and out of triage. Kari made sure the nurses were aware of my birth plan and my wishes for after birth. Once we got into the room were I birthed my son Kari was observant and perceptive of my needs. My husband got to stay by my side talking to me and rubbing my head and Kari did counter pressure and massage. When I say she thought of everything I mean it. Kari was such a blessing she became apart of our family that day. Once my son was born there were some concerns from the hospital staff about his health and they were getting borderline upset about what should be done. Kari came to our side and explained our options in a calm and respectful way and told us the risks of what could happen. Ultimately I decided to go with my gut and monitor my son closely while we had our first moments together and ask more questions from our care team. After a while I realized there wasn’t a true concern for my son, the hospital staff just overlooked some of my labs and came to their own conclusion of my health and my sons. Having Kari there to calmly explain what was happening was so reassuring.
I could go on forever explaining every detail that made her services worth every single penny. But I will leave you with one more. After coming home from the hospital when ever I got nervous or had any question I would text Kari and she knew exactly what I could do and was so helpful to calm my nerves and help me through postpartum.
I wish I could explain to her how much I cherish what she provided for my birth but there are no words for the amount of gratitude I have for her. I hope my experience helps you decided if hiring a doula is right for you.”

“I had a wonderful experience with Kari as my doula for my first pregnancy last year. Due to some health risks, I decided I wanted a doula to help support me with my hospital labor and delivery as I was hoping to have an unmedicated birth as possible. I unfortunately didn't make this decision and find her until I was late into my pregnancy but for the few weeks I did get to work with her prior to birth and then into my postpartum, she was amazing. She was so kind, comforting and supportive. I wish I had hired her from the very beginning! I am looking forward to my next pregnancy and working with her again :)”
